A new project HERO Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program is being made available to residents in a further 16 cities and 5 counties throughout California starting today. The program enables homeowners to make the move to energy and water efficiency improvements to their properties, and then pay for them through their property tax bills over time. Most homeowners see reductions in utility bills within a short time using these upgrades.
Mayor David Haubert of Dublin has said “There is ample evidence that PACE financing is a valuable tool for local governments looking to engage residents in efforts to use water and energy more efficiently.” Other benefits to the program include creating local jobs and water conservation, a key factor given the long-standing drought conditions in the state.
